Alan Bennett hand written postcard. The postcard is addressed to Rodney West (the former general manager of the Bristol Old Vic Theatre). Fully hand written by Alan Bennett and dated, Oct 2 1994. In his own hand Alan Bennett writes "Dear Mr West. I'd be a great disappointment to meet - I'm best encountered on the page! I'm glad you like my stuff though - and the word processing is very effective. Bradford's suffered even more than Leeds, I'm afraid - though when I was a child it was a much richer (or nicer), smarter place. Best Wishes, Alan Bennett." He has also written the addressee details. A unique insight to the world famous Leeds author and his self deprecating personality. He writes about his home city of Leeds and his own thoughts and feelings. The picture side of the card shows the famous mountain of Pen-Y-Ghent, one of the popular three peak walks. To the written side there are no faults. The picture side does have a couple of surface scratches likely during the postal process, though this des not affect the written side at all.
