It is incredibly hard to come across rare acetates and studio pressings like this, let alone those related to the biggest bands in the world. An acetate disc (also known as a test acetate, dub plate, lacquer, or transcription disc) is a type of vinyl gramophone record. Acetates are typically produced from a master tape recording. By electroplating the acetate master, stampers (special moulds) can be created, which in turn can then be used to press large quantities of records. Acetates are also used for testing the quality of the tape-to-disc transfer. A typical acetate disc is an aluminum disc, 10 or 12 inches in diameter. This is a far far rarer 7" acetate one sided master pressings. Discs of this type can be played on any normal vinyl record player. This rare early Paul McCartney 7" vinyl acetate is highly prized for it's rarity. Check out our other Beatles including Beatles autographs, rare books and Beatles memorabilia here at RARE AND SIGNED.
