Professionaly framed to gallery standard. A unique opportunity to own a genuine rare and beautiful piece of Tony Forrest art. This stunning oil painting is the artist's original work. The artist informed me recently how this painting actually came about: " On my very first visiti to Africa, I painted this elephant! My first ever trip was to Tsavo in Kenya around May 1990. I will never forget that wretched red dust that pumped up through the floor of the truck as we drove to the camp. Everything got covered in the stuff. The camp I stayed at was called Voi Lodge. My first sighting of wild elephants was just before we got to the camp, I could see an ear flapping behind a bush - I was so excited I felt like a child! The elephant I painted here is from this two week stay in Tsavo; I stayed at about three different camps. Kilaguni Lodge was another. There are many elephants in Tsavo and the red dust is where they get their colour from. Elephants are naturally grey but here they get covered in the dust which gives them that characteristic rusty look. As you know, I have been to Africa many times since those days and my work has changed to the style I use now".
