Doyle Arthur Conan  The Hound Of The Baskervilles UK George Newnes Ltd 1902 First Edition Full-Leather As New As New Private Press 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall Signed by Author This is a stunning example from one of the greatest story tellers of all time. This is Arthur Conan Doyle`s, The Hound of the Baskervilles. This book is a true first edition first printing and is bound in a beautiful full red goatskin leather with matching drop back slip case. It has been signed on the frontis piece " A Conan Doyle..30th Oct 1903 ". It has been bound in stunning leather with hand tooled hounds in 24kt gold to each corner and in between the raised bands on the spine. It is has full 24kt gilt edge papers and the original front dustwrapper cover and spine are laid into the slip case. It has beautiful hand tooled inner board edges in 24kt gilt and matching end papers. A most unique and beautiful first impression in this one off style of binding. It is a very scarce true first edition with illustration by Sidney Padget. It should be noted that a genuine signed Arthur Conan Doyle Hound of the Baskervilles unbound in a wrapper would sell for in excess of £25,000. This book is a very desireable copy with this signature and in this style of binding. I have no provenance on this book but many experts appear split. Some saying it is genuine others believing it is secretarial. Here beautifully preserved with original plate illustrations. This is the most beautiful presentation of this book you could ever wish to own. A simply wonderful true first edition volume bound by one of the world's greatest hand binders. A beautiful book.
