Medicine Cabinets SIGNED FIRST EDITION, Damien Hirst
6 Damien Hirst Medicine Cabinets SIGNED FIRST EDITION
Damien Hirst Signed Fine Original Original
DAMIEN HIRST, SIGNED FIRST EDITION. SIGNED EDITION, SEALED AS ISSUED. Here is a stunning original Damien Hirst First Edition hardback edition, hand signed by Damien Hirst. Medicine Cabinets - SIGNED EDITION. Signed by Hirst to the title page. Published on the occasion of Damien Hirstís exhibition at L&M Gallery, New York, October 2010, the first ever medicine cabinets book is contextualised by the artistís following of the punk movement. The first twelve sculptures in the book are named after the title tracks on the Sex Pistolsí Never Mind the Bollocks album. The front page newspaper spreads punctuating the book from the albumís release year (1977) and the year of the cabinetsí completion (1989) provide a context for reading James Freyís story poem, F*** This and F*** That, which describes the listless protest of a teenage waster. The song titles and cabinet names - No Feelings, Liar and Seventeen - resound with the frustrations of Thatcherite Britain and the violence borne out in daily uprest and anarchy, as depicted in the news: IRA MEN HELD IN BIG SWOOP; RIOT SHIELDS OUT AGAIN and DOCKS JOBS-FOR-LIFE TO BE AXED BY AUTUMN. Hirstís medicine cabinets have long been described as temples of medicinal hierarchies providing nothing more than a short-term cure in the face of death. Viewing the pervasive / successes and exploitations of the pharmaceutical industry as a belief system in itself is evidence of our dependency and a form of escapism. Hirst has commented: ĎIíve always seen medicine cabinets as bodies, but also like a cityscape or civilization, with some sort of hierarchy within it. Itís also like a contemporary museum of the Middle Ages. In a hundred years time this will look like an old apothecary. A museum of something thatís around today.í The publication features a radio broadcast interview between Damien Hirst and Steve Jones, the Sex Pistolsí guitarist, covering music, girls, money, drugs, drinks and smokes. The bookís index lists every medicine cabinet ever made and the exhibition itself included original Sex Pistols memorabilia including album sleeves and t-shirts. Obtained directly from the world famous artist. The book is in perfect condition. SEALED by the publisher. Full embossed matt boards as issued. This book is unread in perfect condition. There is no doubt Damien Hirst is a perfect artist to collect. With many of his originals now selling for millions, this is a very affordable alternative and a piece of the original artist. No Love Lost SIGNED & ILLUSTRATED FIRST EDITION, Damien Hirst
9 Damien Hirst No Love Lost SIGNED & ILLUSTRATED FIRST EDITION
UK Damien Hirst Signed Fine Original Original
Here is a stunning original Damien Hirst First Edition UK hardback edition, hand signed and illustrated by Damien Hirst in person. NO LOVE LOST - A beautiful original Damien Hirst autograph. Published on the occasion of Damien Hirstís exhibition at the Wallace Collection, London in October 2009, this rare hardback book shows a large selection of blue skull and flower paintings made between 2006 and 2008 from the show, with a total of 30 illustrations and 3 gatefolds. Damien Hirst signed books are hard to come across with additional drawings. This edition was hand signed by Damien Hirst. Damien Hirst has drawn a skull by his signature. A beautiful and very rare sought after Damien Hirst original drawing. The book is in perfect condition. Full picture matt boards as issued. This book is unread in perfect condition. Damien Hirst was born in 1965. He is one of the most famous and collected modern day English artists. A known entrepreneur and art collector. He is the most prominent member of the group known as the Young British Artists (or YBAs), who dominated the art scene in Britain during the 1990s.[3] He is internationally renowned, and is reportedly Britain's richest living artist, with his wealth valued at £215m in the 2010 Sunday Times Rich List. During the 1990s his career was closely linked with the collector Charles Saatchi, but increasing frictions came to a head in 2003 and the relationship ended. Death is a central theme in Hirst's works. He became famous for a series of artworks in which dead animals (including a shark, a sheep and a cow) are preserved-sometimes having been dissected-in formaldehyde. The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living, a 14-foot (4.3 m) tiger shark immersed in formaldehyde in a vitrine became the iconic work of British art in the 1990s, and the symbol of Britart worldwide. Damien Hirst has also made "spin paintings," created on a spinning circular surface, and "spot paintings", which are rows of randomly-coloured circles created by his assistants. In September 2008, he took an unprecedented move for a living artist by selling a complete show, Beautiful Inside My Head Forever, at Sotheby's by auction and by-passing his long-standing galleries. The auction exceeded all predictions, raising £111 million ($198 million), breaking the record for a one-artist auction as well as Hirst's own record with £10.3 million for The Golden Calf, an animal with 18-carat gold horns and hooves, preserved in formaldehyde. In several instances since 1999 the sources for certain of Hirst's works have been challenged and contested as plagiarised, both in written articles by journalists and artists, and, in one instance, through legal proceedings which led to an out-of-court settlement. There is no doubt Damien Hirst is a perfect artist to collect. With many of his originals now selling for millions, this is a very affordable alternative and a piece of the original artist. Do check out our other fantastic selection of rare original Damien Hirst drawings and Damien Hirst signed and illustrated books in our listings. 100% genuine and a perfect investment item.

Signed by Hirst to the title page. A stunning hardback edition of the highest quality. A true work of art. Requiem II details all the previously unseen skull paintings from the Requiem exhibition at the Pinchuk Art Center, Kiev, Ukraine, in April 2009. Featuring over 40 works painted between 2006 and 2008, Hirst uses paint to convey the darker, philosophical attributes of death. Emerging from the midnight darkness, his Requiem skull paintings speak of a remembrance of corporeality and the transportation from body into soul. Using the skull as representative of this transition, Hirst appeals to our universal nature, his art merging sublime romanticism with lifeís cold scientific reality: together we drive towards death. 130pp Hardback: 310 x 245 mm (12 x 10 inches) 57 illustrations, 3 x six page gate-folds. The Complete Psalm Paintings SIGNED FIRST EDITION, Damien Hirst

Damien Hirst Signed Fine Original Original
DAMIEN HIRST, SIGNED FIRST EDITION. SIGNED EDITION, SEALED AS ISSUED. Here is a stunning original Damien Hirst First Edition hardback edition, hand signed by Damien Hirst. The Complete Psalm Paintings - SIGNED EDITION. Signed by Hirst to the title page. A stunning clothbound edition of the highest quality. A true work of art. In 2008, Damien Hirst created a series of one hundred and fifty paintings, each titled after an Old Testament psalm, and made from butterfly wings and household gloss paint on canvas. The ĎPsalmsí, in which iridescent butterfly wings combine to form kaleidoscopic patterns reminiscent of Gothic stained glass windows or Buddhist mandalas, were conceived nearly twenty years after the artistís first use of the insect. Now one of his most recognisable motifs, the butterfly is here used to address some of Hirstís most enduring themes: beauty, art, belief, life and death. This stunning publication provides a comprehensive survey of the series. Each of the fully illustrated paintings is accompanied by the psalm from which its title derives, the biblical text rendered on images of individually selected colour marble samples. With the addition of a complete list of works and essays by writers Michael Bracewell and Amie Corry that investigate the historical and conceptual background to the works, ĎThe Complete Psalm Paintingsí is an exquisite companion to one of Hirstís most beautiful series.
